Hello Float Family,
The introductory meeting for the Home-brew float competition will be held tonight (10/29) at 7PM. Even if you're on the fence, we highly recommend that you attend, so you can ask questions, and get some ideas for your project(s)!
If this is your first time receiving emails regarding this competition, please read the section below. Otherwise, see you tonight!
Please email abmcmanu@calpoly.edu & rmagbayani@cpp.edu with any questions!
What: Over the course of about a month, we will be sending out instructions, guidelines, and information about how to participate in our contest.
When: It will take the form of several zoom meetings over a few weeks.
Who: Current Rose Float members, prospective Rose Float members, tentative Rose Float members….maybe you?
Why: It will be fun! Come to learn about the Rose Float program, meet the team, and develop your design skills.
Here’s the spirit of the project: we are going to learn how to make float-like elements. This is supposed to be both fun and competitive. The idea is that you can make your pieces out of household items like: paperclips, plastic containers, paper, fabric, and anything else you might have around.
We are planning to pair volunteers with experienced leadership team members, so that you may learn from the very best in each department (Design, Deco, Construction).
We will be following the traditional progression of building a float: you’ll design, construct, and decorate the piece you choose to make. This competition is highly recommended if you would like to join the team next year!
